Special Edition of VDH Newsletter on C. auris

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has issued a special edition of its Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) High Sign newsletter about Candida auris. The newsletter focuses on the containment strategy for this deadly fungus and includes reminders about reporting requirements.

C. auris is easily spread from person-to-person and can persist on surfaces in the health care environments. Read the newsletter to learn more: HAI High Sign C. auris Special Edition

As a reminder, the State Board of Health updated the Virginia Regulations for Disease Reporting and Control (12 VAC 5-90-80) effective November 14, 2018. C. auris was added to the reportable disease list and conditions reportable by directors of laboratories. For more information on the reportable disease regulations and reporting C. auris, please visit the VDH interpretive guidance for C. auris reporting.
