VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of September 9, 2019.

• 9/9—Hosted a demonstration of the capabilities of VHCA-VCAL’s Survey Management and Analysis Resource Tool (SMART) for other AHCA state affiliates.
• 9/9—Met with Sen. Emmet Hanger (R-Augusta County), Sen. Ryan McDougle (R-Hanover), and Del. Roxann Robinson (R-Chesterfield) to discuss VHCA-VCAL priorities .
• 9/10—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Danny Marshall (R-Danville).
• 9/10—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus claims processing conference calls with Aetna and Virginia Premier.
• 9/11—Participated in political fundraisers for Del. Vivian Watts (D-Annandale) and Sen. Lynwood Lewis (D-Accomack).
• 9/11—Participated in a meeting of HQI’s Psychotropic Medication Reduction Workgroup.
• 9/11—Participated in the monthly CCC Plus claims processing conference calls with Magellan and United HealthCare.
• 9/11—Participated in AHCA’s State Affiliate Network call.
• 9/12—Met with Del. Debra Rodman (R-Henrico) to discuss VHCA-VCAL priorities.
• 9/12—Participated in the monthly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Anthem and Optima.
• 9/12—VHCA PAC hosted a political fundraiser for Sen. George Barker (D-Fairfax).
