VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of December 9, 2019.  

• 12/9—Attended the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce Senatorial Roundtable featuring Sens. Tim Kaine and Mark Warner.
• 12/9-10—Steve Ford attended the AHCA/NCAL Population Health Summit in Washington, DC.
• 12/11—Met with staff from the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s state budget priorities and Medicaid rebasing.
• 12/11—Participated in the monthly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Magellan and United.
• 12/12—Attended the monthly DMAS LTC Portal conference call.
• 12/12—Participated in the monthly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Anthem and Optima.
• 12/12—Participated in a conference call for AHCA/NCAL’s Independent Owners Council.
• 12/12—Participated in the No Wrong Door Resource Advisory Council Meeting.
• 12/12—Met with representatives of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and HQI.
• 12/13—Attended the Allied Health Summit hosted by Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association.
• 12/13—Attended the DMAS Managed Care Advisory Committee meeting.
• 12/13—Hosted the quarterly ALF Stakeholder meeting.
• 12/13—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Patrick Hope (D-Arlington).
