DMAS Extends Deadline for Managed Care Days Survey

DMAS Extends Deadline for Managed Care Days Survey

DMAS notified nursing facilities on December 10 that the agency is extending the deadline for providers to complete the DMAS Medicaid Nursing Facility Managed Care Days Survey to January 3, 2020. As we shared last week, DMAS is collecting data from all nursing facilities for their Medicaid managed care days for the 2017 cost reporting period to calculate Medicaid rates for the triennial rebasing.

As a reminder, DMAS has provided a spreadsheet with its current count of managed care days by facility, which does not match the count in the most recent (or any) version of the rebasing model. DMAS indicates if a NF does not reply to the survey, then the NF is accepting the count DMAS currently has.

DMAS has shifted the survey deadline from December 20, 2019 to January 3, 2020. DMAS has indicated it will email providers again this week (week of December 9, 2019) with additional clarification pertaining to the survey based on questions received.

Over the last week VHCA-VCAL has continued its dialog with various DMAS personnel to repeat our concern with the approach of surveying NFs in this way. We continue to advocate for use of the total days for the peer group pricing unless we reach a reasonable level of confidence in the managed care day data either reported by DMAS or collected through this process.
