VHCA-VCAL This Week
Advocacy is a year-round job.
- There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
- The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.
Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of January 9, 2023.
- 1/9-13—36 attended the Introduction to Activity Management in Long Term Care
- 1/9—Participated in the biweekly call for AHCA/NCAL state affiliate staff.
- 1/9—Met with Del. Mark Sickels (D-Fairfax) to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s legislative priorities.
- 1/10—Met with Sen. George Barker (D-Fairfax), Sen. Ghazala Hashmi (D-Chesterfield), and Sen. Steve Newman (R-Lynchburg) to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s legislative priorities.
- 1/11—Met with Del. Vivian Watts (D-Annadale) and Sen. John Cosgrove (R-Chesapeake) to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s legislative priorities.
- 1/11—Participated in an AHCA webinar for state affiliate staff on PDMP and Medicaid issues.
- 1/11—Keith Hare attended the Marquis Health Consulting Services year-end event in Atlantic City honoring Marquis employees.
- 1/11—Met with leadership from Friendship to discuss the Medicaid Value-Based Purchasing program.
- 1/12—Attended the Virginia Nurses Association Access to Mental Healthcare workgroup meeting.
- 1/12—Monitored the Health, Welfare and Institutions Committee meeting.
- 1/13—Met with Sen. John Edwards (D-Roanoke) to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s legislative priorities.
