DSS Announces Online Infection Prevention and Control Education

What’s new: DSS has announced a new infection prevention and control education curriculum available for assisted living facilities. The curriculum is hosted on the CDC TRAIN platform.

  • This free resource developed by DSS offers three levels of content, including a basic curriculum for all staff, enrichment courses for all staff, and courses intended for infection prevention leaders and supervisors. TRAIN is a national learning platform that provides quality training opportunities on public health topics.

About the training: The basic curriculum offers recorded versions of the presentations available in the train-the-trainer resource binder. There are also additional enrichment and supervisor curricula that include content developed by the VDSS Infection Prevention and Control Team and courses offered through collaboration with Health Quality Innovators (HQI).

  • All courses offer learners the opportunity to receive credit and certificates for infection prevention and control training hours.

How to access the training: Learners must create a free TRAIN account and associate their profile with Virginia in order to find VDSS content. Tutorials are available to assist learners through setting up their accounts.

  • Once learners have completed profiles and are logged into the system, they can use the keywords “VDSS” or “7250” to find the training plan and all courses.
