HHS Launches National Campaign to Promote Vaccination for Respiratory Viruses

HHS Launches National Campaign to Promote Vaccination for Respiratory Viruses

What’s happening: A new nationwide initiative from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) aims to raise awareness about the importance of vaccination against flu, COVID-19, and RSV, particularly for those at higher risk, including older adults and long term care (LTC) residents.

  • The “Risk Less. Do More.” Campaign is meant to increase confidence in vaccines that play an important role in preventing severe illness from these viruses and to provide the information people need to make the decision to get vaccinated this fall and winter.

About the campaign: It emphasizes the critical role of vaccines in reducing severe illness and hospitalization during the colder months. By providing clear and research-backed information, HHS encourages everyone to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their communities.

Why it matters: LTC care providers play a key role in promoting health and safety. Ensuring that both staff and residents are informed about and have access to these vaccines is essential for a healthy season.
