Bills Will Require Additional Training Topics for CNAs

CNAHouse Bill (HB) 386 would require additional training topics for certified nursing assistants (CNAs) covering “observational and reporting techniques.”  Del. Randy Minchew (R-Loudoun) introduced the measure to ensure that CNAs know how to handle and report incidents of resident abuse.  HB 386 would not require additional training hours for CNAs.  The bill was unanimously backed by the House Health, Welfare and Institutions Committee.

Sen. Barbara Favola (D-Arlington) has introduced a similar measure, SB 328, which was also unanimously reported by the Senate Education and Health Committee.
