OLC Urges Use of Electronic-POC by May 1
In a letter to nursing facility administrators dated March 28, Director of the Division of Long Term Care Services in the Office of Licensure and Certification (OLC) Kathaleen Creegan-Tedeschi announced OLC’s use of the electronic plan of correction (ePOC). The agency would like all facilities to transition to the use of ePOCs by May 1, 2016.
The ePOC system will be used in place of mailed copies of the CMS-2567 forms and plans of correction, which will simplify the process for facilities and OLC to review and approve surveys.
Enrollment in the ePOC system involves registering for an ePOC account with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Each facility can set up an ePOC CMS Net account with a log in and password. If the person who handles Minimum Data Set (MDS) submissions will also be involved with ePOC, they can use the same MDS account and will be able to activate ePOC on that account.
