VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.  Take a look at our activities this week:

• 5/2—VHCA-VCAL sponsored the Virginia Governor’s Conference on Aging. Tara Davis-Ragland of The Towers, Danni Gary of Hanover Health and Rehabilitation Center, Keith Hare, and Doran Hutchinson attended representing the association.
• 5/3—The Board of Directors met in Richmond.
• 5/3—David Tucker of CCR and Derrick Kendall of Lucy Corr Village attended a political fundraiser for Del. Kirk Cox (R-Colonial Heights).
• 5/3—Represented VHCA members at United Healthcare’s MLTSS Provider Advisory Council meeting.
• 5/3—Attended a political fundraiser for Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam (D).
• 5/5—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Jimmie Massie (R-Henrico).
• 5/5—Participated in the monthly NCAL state affiliate call.
• 5/5—Brian Reinmann of King’s Daughters Community Health and Rehab hosted the Central District meeting.
