VHCA-VCAL This Week
VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job. While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.
We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.
Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of January 30, 2017.
- 1/30—Met with LeadingAge Virginia President and CEO Melissa Andrews.
- 1/31—Monitored the House Health, Welfare and Institutions (HWI) Committee meeting and its related subcommittees, as well as the Senate Education and Health Committee’s Health Professions subcommittee and the House Appropriations Committee’s Health and Human Resources subcommittee.
- 1/31—Met with Del. Daun Hester (D-Norfolk).
- 2/1—Attended the Virginia Antibiotic Stewardship Summit hosted by the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association and HQI.
- 2/1—Monitored the Senate Finance Committee meeting.
- 2/2—Attended the Senate Education and Health and House HWI Committee meetings.
- 2/2—Held the first monthly conference call with the Office of Licensure and Certification to discuss the survey process under the new Requirements of Participation for nursing centers.
- 2/2—Joined the monthly NCAL state affiliate conference call.
