ROP Update: Preparing for Phase 2
Are you thinking ahead to what you need to do to comply with Phase 2 of the Requirements of Participation (ROP) in November? Join us on May 23 for a day-long education program to help you do just that. While CMS has yet to issue interpretative guidance for Phase 2, AHCA staff Lyn Bentley and Sara Rudow will provide you with tools and advice to help you prepare to make necessary changes to comply to Phase 2.
You will learn how to make changes to your operations comply with Phase 2 requirements with a mix of presentations and interactive exercises using materials you bring from your center, such as your most recent standard survey, QA reports, a discharge summary sample and sample comprehensive care plan. The session will also include significant time for group discussion and a review of available resources and tools.

- Admissions, including new required resident notifications
- Changes to the care planning process emphasizing person-centered care and the new baseline care plan
- Discharge planning
- Staffing requirements including demonstrating staff competencies and new training requirements
- New policy and procedures
- New physical building requirements
- Care practices needing changes
- Adverse event prevention and monitoring including infection prevention and control and medication prescribing
- New facility assessment of residents and resources
- New requirement for a Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan
