Overview
2019 was a tumultuous year for survey outcomes. Virginia’s nursing facilities have witnessed an increase in the number of deficiencies and more deficiencies with higher scope/severity. These results have been costly in financial penalties, staff retention and turnover, and customer satisfaction.
During this day-long program, we will help you take an in-depth look at new challenges and explore strategies and systems you can employ to reduce risks and to enhance quality of life for your residents and your teams. Presenters include:
- OLC’s Kim Beazley, Mary Chiles, Sarah Marks, and Alexandria Hill will explore Virginia’s 2019 survey trends and patterns.
- Mary Malone and Kyle Rene will review how the informal dispute resolution (IDR) process works and how best to navigate it.
- Pam Clark and Holly Borrero will examine the benefits of having a robust and proactive grievance program to enhance customer satisfaction and minimize need for complaint surveys.

VHCA-VCAL Cancellation & Refund Policies
The administrator of a center has the ability to cancel without a penalty if federal or state surveyors/inspectors are in a center. Cancellations for credit card payments are subject to a 10% service fee. Refunds will be granted as follows: full refund if received by the specified registration deadline; one-half of the registration fee if cancellation received three working days prior to the scheduled event. No refunds or credits will be granted if cancellation is received after the three working days deadline. Substitutions are always welcome.
