Overview

Join us for either the Bronze or Silver session to learn more about the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program which recognizes long term and post-acute care organizations across the nation for quality. The Program has three levels of awards: Bronze – Commitment to Quality, Silver -Achievement in Quality, and Gold – Excellence in Quality, each of which set progressively higher standards for performance. By moving through the three award levels, organizations will improve the quality of the care and services they provide.

9:00 – 11:30 am Introduction to the AHCA/NCAL Quality Awards & Understanding the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Criteria

This session will introduce you to the awards program and explain how committing to the application process can provide you leadership framework for operational success for years to come. The Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award is the first step in the National Quality Award Program as well as the door to developing a new perspective on organizational excellence specific to long term care. Participants will be introduced to the Bronze – Commitment to Quality criteria and program policies to submit a successful application.

11:30 – 12:00 pm Lunch

12:00 – 4:00 pm Understanding the Silver – Achievement in Quality Criteria

After achieving a successful Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award, the journey to excellence continues through the Silver – Achievement in Quality application process. Participants will be introduced to the Silver criteria and begin to develop the framework for interpreting the criteria to begin crafting a successful application. Examiners will share constructive tidbits to consider and pitfalls to avoid when writing a Silver Level application and how to follow program policies to submit an application.

Presenters

VHCA-VCAL members Wendy Walter and Tammy Kelly have both served as Senior Examiners for the AHCA/NCAL Quality Awards Program and will lead these workshops.
