Overview

Join us for a two-part webinar series on led by Judy Wilhide Brandt on quality measures (QM) and the Five-Star Quality Rating System. In the first session, Brandt will lead you through the information you need to understand the details of new ways CMS is measuring and reporting quality of care in your nursing center. During the second session, she will help you gain a solid understanding of how data is used to determine your Five-Star Rating. These webinars are intended for administrators, DON, nurse managers, MDS coordinators,  corporate operators, and consultants.

Care Compare: What’s New in CMS Quality Measurement?

In the past few years, CMS has introduced many new ways of publicly reporting our data:  MDS, Medicare claims, NHSN, and PBJ.  Before we can improve something, it must be measured.  Before we can see improvement in the data, we have to understand the data.  This seminar will help in understanding the data.

Understanding Five-Star

The Five-Star Rating System is used by the public, key referring entities, lending institutions, potential buyers, and CMS in many ways. This webinar will explain the myriad ways you are assigned a star rating in various categories and how it comes together for an overall quality rating. 

Presenter

Judy Wilhide Brandt, RN, BA, CPC, RAC-MTA, DNS-CT, QCP

Brandt is an independent consultant who assists LTC operators nationwide with Medicare compliance, PDPM, MDS, and quality measurement. She has assisted the US government and states with legal expertise in Medicare fraud. She is a master teacher for the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing in two certification programs. She has written and spoken extensively for many years on quality measurement. She can break down complex topics into understandable and even enjoyable presentations. She is a former Virginia RAI Manager and Surveyor. She is a long-time friend and member of the VHCA-VCAL, serving on many committees and speaking regularly over the years.
