Who should attend this workshop?

The two-day Advance MDS Workshop is designed for MDS coordinators who have been on the job for at least six weeks and have a basic understanding of coding the MDS.  This session will explore the ramifications of accurate coding and introduce the new RUG-IV 48 group that will go into effect on July 1, 2017.

Topics covered:

• Ramifications of accurate MDS coding including Quality Measures, Five-Star Ratings, Value Based Purchasing, Medicare RUG-IV, and Virginia Case Mix RUG-III 34 Grouper
• Introduction to the new RUG-IV 48 Grouper
• Line-by-line coding for Section GG and the Part A PPS Discharge
• Advanced PPS scheduling and the Requirements for Skilled Care in a skilled nursing facility (SNF)
• SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP):  Section GG, New/Worse Pressure Ulcers, Falls with Major Injury, and PPS Discharge
