Overview

This three-part webinar series will answer your questions about the CMS final rule on the skilled nursing facility (SNF) prospective payment system for fiscal year 2024. Judy Wilhide Brandt will explain the details about the new Medicare rates, a variety of issues related to quality measures, and changes to both the Medicare Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Program and the SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP). Remember, new rates took effect October 1. The time for each webinar is 1:30 – 3:00 pm.

 

Five Star Rating System Updates for 2024 | December 5, 2023

This webinar will review the freeze of four quality measures to accommodate changes to the MDS Section GG, and the freeze of the staffing level measures. Changes to staffing case-mix adjustment from RUG-IV to PDPM along with the revision of the staffing methodology resulting in stronger penalties for not submitting or erroneously submitting data will also be discussed. Lastly, the webinar will review of the components of the Five Star rating system:  survey, quality measures, and staffing.

 

New MDS-Based Quality Measures | December 6, 2023

This webinar will focus on a review of record selection for long and short stay measures followed by a deep dive into the technical specifications of the four over-hauled measures related to a resident’s increased need for help with activities of daily living; the ability to walk independently; pressure ulcers; new or worsening incontinence. The discharge function score will also be covered.

 

New SNF QRP and VBP Measures for FY24 and Beyond | December 7, 2023

This webinar will focus on components of the SNF QRP and the Medicare VBP. For the QRP, topics to be covered include new and retired measures, and the calculation of new measures and how to avoid the two percent Annual Payment Update penalty. Discussion of Medicare VBP-related issues will include the eight measures used for the incentive payments through FY 2028 and an explanation of VBP scoring rules.
