Efforts Underway to Address Medicaid Budget Issues

capitalDel. John O’Bannon (R-Henrico) has introduced two budget amendments on behalf of the Virginia Health Care Association and the Virginia Center for Assisted Living (VHCA-VCAL.)  One amendment is intended to restore the Medicaid inflation adjustment for nursing facilities in FY 2018, which was not included in the second year of Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s proposed budget. The second amendment is intended to clarify that the Medicaid rate inflation deferral for FY 2016 was not intended to affect any future rebasing of nursing facility rates.

VHCA-VCAL has also had detailed discussions with leaders of the Senate Finance Committee’s Health and Human Resources subcommittee to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s budget requests as well.  We will continue to discuss members’ concerns about the need for these priorities to be included in the budget.
