VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of January 18, 2021.

• 1/18—Participated in the VDH Vaccine Advisory Workgroup.
• 1/18—Participated in the Virginia Nursing Association’s Access to Mental Health workgroup call.
• 1/19—Participated in the monthly DMAS LTC COVID-19 call.
• 1/21—Monitored the meeting of the House Health, Welfare and Institutions Committee.
• 1/20—Attended the meeting of the DMAS Dental Advisory Committee.
• 1/21—Participated in the COVID-19 Long Term Care Facility Task Force meeting.
• 1/21—Monitored the meetings of the House Health, Welfare and Institutions Committee and the Senate Education and Health Committee.
• 1/21—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s bi-weekly call with state affiliates to discuss media and public relations resources.
• 1/22—Hosted a member call on COVID-19 issues.
