VHCA-VCAL This Week
Advocacy is a year-round job.
- There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
- The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.
Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of March 6, 2023.
- 3/6—Participated in the biweekly AHCA/NCAL call for state affiliate staff.
- 3/6—Met with VDH and LeadingAge Virginia to discuss updates to nursing home regulations resulting from the 2023 General Assembly session.
- 3/6—Provided an update to VDH on the status of VHCA-VCAL’s VLIPP emergency preparedness grant.
- 3/7—Attended the Board of Long Term Care Administrators meeting.
- 3/8—Participated in the AHCA/NCAL update call for its constituency councils.
- 3/8—Attended a Long Term Care Meeting Planners meeting for AHCA/NCAL state affiliate staff.
- 3/8—Attended the DMAS Medicaid Unwinding Summit.
- 3/9—The VCAL Committee met to review the Standards for Licensed Assisted Living Facilities.
- 3/9—Participated in a work group meeting hosted by the Virginia Nurses Association on access to mental health.
- 3/10—Met with DMAS to discuss the development of the Nursing Facility Quality Improvement Program.
