VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.

• 12/17—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s weekly legislative conference call.
• 12/17—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Emmett Hanger (R-Augusta County).
• 12/18—Attended political fundraisers for Del. Roxann Robinson (R-Chesterfield), Del. Danny Marshall (R-Danville), Del. Marcia Price (D-Newport News), and Senate Majority Leader Tommy Norment (R-Williamsburg).
• 12/18—Co-hosted a political fundraiser for Sen. Steve Newman (R-Lynchburg).
• 12/18—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing conference calls with Anthem and Virginia Premier.
• 12/18—Members of the Quality of Care and Regulatory Committee participated in a webinar hosted by Connect Virginia and Collective Medical on the emergency department care coordination program.
• 12/19—Keith Hare met with Snyder Nursing Home Administrator Keith Denson and staff in Salem.
• 12/19—Participated in AHCA’s Affiliate Policy Task Force call.
• 12/20—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing conference calls with Aetna and Optima.
• 12/20—Participated in the American Society of Health Care Administration Executives (ASHCAE) monthly call.
• 12/20—Participated in the biweekly Anthem CCC Plus conference call.
