Board of LTC Administrators: Final Paper Licenses in 2020

Board of LTC Administrators: Final Paper Licenses in 2020

In a message to licensees, the Board of Long-Term Care Administrators noted that it will cease mailing hard copy licenses and registrations on a yearly basis. Administrators should maintain, carry, and post their 2020 renewal. The Board has also issued additional instructions on the use of the license look-up feature on its website.

Final Paper Licenses in 2020

Beginning this year, the Board will cease mailing hard copy licenses and registrations on a yearly basis. During the 2020 renewal, a final hard copy will be issued that contains no expiration date. This final copy should be maintained, carried, or posted in accordance with relevant applicable laws and regulations. Health regulatory agencies, employers, insurance providers, and citizens seeking verification of current licensure status in the Commonwealth of Virginia may obtain this information via the Department of Health Professions’ License Lookup.

A replacement or duplicate of a final hard-copy license, certification, registration, or permit may be requested though an individual licensee’s online account.

As a reminder, the posting requirements for the Board can be found in the Board’s Regulations (See 18VAC95-30-20 for ALFA or 18VAC95-20-60 for NHA), which can be found on the Board’s website under “Laws and Regulations.”

Should you have any questions, please visit the Board’s website: or contact the Board’s general email box at ltc@dhp.virginia.gov.

License Look Up

License lookup is a free public information service provided by the Department of Health Professions (DHP) for citizens to review the status of health care professionals in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Businesses wishing to access bulk license information must subscribe to DHP Health Professional Data Services.

Users will receive an error message if they attempt to use the site to verify multiple licenses without a subscription, such as for staffing purposes. Subscribing to the data services will remove that restriction.
