Petition for Rulemaking on Requirements for Preceptor License

Petition for Rulemaking on Requirements for Preceptor License

The Board of Long-Term Care Administrators has opened a comment period on whether to amend the requirements for preceptorships.

A petitioner has requested that the regulations be amended to:

  • allow an administrator with one year of total experience to be preceptor;
  • to make it mandatory for an employer to inform the Board about employee work dates, and
  • to add other types of documents to prove work history.

Comments will be accepted through November 14, 2018 and may be submitted online on the Virginia Regulatory Town Hall website.

The petition and copies of all comments will be considered by the Board at its meeting scheduled for December 13, 2018.  After considering the request and reviewing the comments, the Board will decision whether to initiate rule-making or deny the petition and retain the current requirements.
