Train and Track Your AL Staff’s Infection Control Knowledge and Skills

Train and Track Your AL Staff’s Infection Control Knowledge and Skills

COVID variants are here to stay for the foreseeable future. Training and competency testing assisted living staff members’ infection prevention knowledge and skill sets are critical steps toward minimizing the spread of illnesses.

AHCA/NCAL offers an online program in conjunction with Healthcare Academy® that delivers the training and competency testing necessary to help prevent the spread of COVID and other infections. AHCA/NCAL’s Infection Control Certificate Program is appropriate for all assisted living staff and features five eLearning modules and five eCompetencies® focused on infection control.

eLearning

eLearning modules designed to provide staff with basic knowledge in the following:

  • Infection Prevention and Control for All Staff
  • Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Hand Hygiene
  • COVID-19: PPE Guidance for Use

Competencies

Complete evidence-based digital checklists allow evaluators to confirm step-by-step knowledge and skill staff competency for:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Applying and Removing
  • Handwashing
  • Surgical Face Mask: Application and Removal
  • N95 Respirator Application and User Seal Check
  • Cleaning and Disinfecting Environmental Surfaces

The program is designed to consistently train and test competency of staff members, and to electronically document staff performance as their learned skills are being evaluated. Reporting functions make it easy to track skill competency by staff member and share that information with state surveyors. The programs can be used on a laptop, iPad, and mobile device.

Providers that participate will have access to a marketing tool kit to support their facilities’ need to publicize their commitment to staff education about infection control.
