ALFs Classified as Type I-1 (Condition 2) Can Serve More Non-Ambulatory Residents

VHCA-VCAL member Mellette PC has prepared a client advisory on a recent guidance document published by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), the DHCD Matrix, which will allow assisted living facilities classified as Type I-1 (Condition 2) buildings to serve a greater number of non-ambulatory residents. The new guidance addresses a conflict between the DHCD Matrix and the Virginia Statewide Building Code.
