VDH and CDC have published guidance on holiday celebrations. The VDH guidance is specific to the risks and benefits long term care facility (LTCF) residents and their families should weigh carefully before a resident leaves the facility to join gatherings of family and friends this holiday season. Both agencies caution that gatherings of people present a potential risk of exposure to COVID-19.

VDH notes the risk for persons living in LTCFs is not only for their own health but also the health of other residents if they bring the virus back into the facility.
