Ask Legislators to Support Increasing the Auxiliary Grant Rate

Ask Legislators to Support Increasing the Auxiliary Grant Rate

What’s happening: The General Assembly is poised to increase the rate for Virginia’s Auxiliary Grant (AG) program as part of the state budget.

  • Contact your legislators to ask them to support this funding.
  • The AG program provides housing support to low-income adults and disabled Virginian’s who live in assisted living facilities (ALFs). The current rate is insufficient to cover the cost of living in an ALF.

VHCA-VCAL has partnered with LeadingAge Virginia and the Virginia Assisted Living Association for this grassroots campaign.

  • In addition, the three associations are sending a joint letter to the budget negotiators asking them to support the Senate’s budget approach to increase the AG rate to $2,500.
