UVA Offers Webinar Series on Infection Mitigation, Prevention, and Control

Starting today: University of Virginia (UVA) Health will offer the Virginia IMPACT (Infection Mitigation, Prevention, and Control through Technology) webinar series.

  • The first webinar in the series will be held on May 17 at 12:30 pm and discuss the end of the federal Public Health Emergency and what comes next.
  • This series aims to cultivate a scientifically bound, culturally responsive community of practice for collaboration and communication around managing infectious diseases in congregate communities through monthly webinars and technology supported state-wide dialogue.
  • Sign up for the free series.

Future sessions will cover:

  • Wound Management | June 14, 2023
  • Diarrhea Management | August 16, 2023
  • Delirium, Dark Urine, Confusion | September 20, 2023
  • STI In Congregate Care Setting | October 18, 2023
  • Dementia and Cognitive Impairment and Infection Control | November 15, 2023

Why it matters: The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of collaboration among clinicians to address specific needs and challenges associated with providing care for people living in congregate communities.

  • Virginia IMPACT strives to engage discussion beyond clinical outcomes to address the broader impact of infections and infection control for people living and working in these communities.
  • This initiative to provide online resources and tools on the latest infection control practices is led by the UVA as part of the VDH Virginia Long Term Care Infrastructure Pilot Project (VLIPP) program, which is being funded by the CDC.
  • The DSS Division of Licensing Programs shared information about the series with all assisted living facilities.
